A Message from Lisa: Specialty Classes at McAllister Park

strollerstridesimageThanks to everyone who has come out for our new specialty classes at McAllister Park.  Everyone seems to be excited about the new classes, and finds them to be a nice change up from the regular class.  I want to remind everyone both classes are open to all members of Stroller Strides.  Please do not let the names intimidate you.
Yesterday we had a wonderful run utilizing walking intervals, and most of the members were surprised and impressed with their ability to complete 2 miles at a 15 min/mile pace.  Not bad for our second time out! Our running class is following a training schedule for the beginning runner to participate in a 5 mile run by Labor Day.  The run we are participating in is called the
SARR Labor Day 5 Mile Whine Run/Walk. It will be held at the Dry Comal Creek Winery.  This will be a lot of fun, and since it is a run/walk, our interval training will be perfect.  You are not required to participate in the run/walk, but a goal can be a great motivator!
Our Boot camp classes have had a lot of positive feedback as well.  This class is also open to all members.  The biggest difference between this class and our regular classes is a focus on more body toning and slightly less cardio work.
I also want to remind everyone we are now meeting at the Pavilion/Playscape nearest Jones-
Maltsberger.  If you enter the park at the dog park, this is your second playscape.  You can find directions on both the
Stroller Strides website and Meet Up.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions regarding the new specialty classes!

In health,

Lisa DeArmond
